My Story

My name is Darren Dunne. I’m from Dunboyne, Co. Meath. I don’t come from a racing background, but my family would be supporters of racing. I started riding horses in 2015 and rode in the Punchestown Charity race in 2019 for Kidney Research.

I was lucky enough to own horses in syndicates on the track and successfully had 2 winners in my own name as an owner in Point to Points also.

I work as an EMC Technician with Compliance Engineering Ireland Ltd. I am lucky to have such good employers and they have also come on board as my main sponsor of the Corinthian Challenge Series. Their backing really means a lot and is greatly appreciated.

I'm looking forward to taking part in the 2023 Corinthian Challenge.

Consisting of three races to be held at Naas Racecourse, the Curragh and Leopardstown, I have the opportunity to complete the hat-trick by taking part in all three races while raising awareness and much needed funds for Irish Injured Jockeys.

As part of my challenge not only am I aiming to raise €10,000 for Irish Injured Jockeys, I will need to maintain my weight and fitness throughout the series and engage in race coaching to understand how to ride a race and each course effectively. I am currently riding out most mornings.

All money raised goes to supporting the incredible work of the Irish Injured Jockeys Fund and your donation is greatly appreciated.
